Therapies

Holistic massage

‘Holistic’ derives from the Greek word holos, meaning ‘whole’. The whole person is treated not just the physical body. A treatment to relieve the stress of everyday life, ease tension, soothe aching muscles, improve blood and lymph circulation to clear away waste and toxins.

The treatment takes place on a massage couch and the areas of the body not being worked on are covered with towels. Pure grape seed oil is used on the back, shoulders, neck, legs, feet, arms, hands, abdomen, upper chest, face and head.

Indian Head massage

Head massage has been practised for over a thousand years and continues to be part of daily grooming in India. Champi, meaning massage of the head, is often offered by barbers as part of the treatment. Narendra Mehta came to England in 1973 to study physical therapy. He decided then to develop the Indian Head Massage as we know it in the west today.

The Indian Head Massage consists of a stimulating scalp and hair massage to encourage healthy hair, a neck and shoulder massage to release stress and tension, and a facial massage to tone and relax.

The massage is done with the client sitting upright in a chair and it is not necessary to remove clothing. The treatment incorporates acupressure releasing a free flow of healing energy.
